Land Development Engineer - Full-time

Location: Austin, TX

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year institution.

  • 4+ years of experience with a PE license.

  • Strong understanding of local governmental codes and regulations.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and project management software.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to manage project schedules efficiently.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to coordinate activities with various City departments and agencies.

  • Ability to conduct technical research, analyze problems, and make sound recommendations.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical material, laws, rules, regulations, and codes.

  • Ability to utilize computer technology in daily activities.

  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings when required.

Job Description

  • Collaborate effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

  • Attend client meetings, planning commission meetings, and city council meetings.

  • Review compliance conditions of approval for subdivision improvements and proposed developments.

  • Manage projects from initiation to completion.

  • Use Civil 3D Pipe Networks for stormwater, sanitary, and water mains design.

  • Conduct field assessments of existing infrastructure and oversee construction observations.

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and modeling.

  • Assist with site grading, shop drawing review, and preparation of technical reports.

  • Help with permit applications and priority project deadlines.

  • Review and approve corrected plans and provide subdivision and site development program procedures information.

  • Coordinate work with engineers, contractors, architects, property owners, developers, and City staff.

  • Confer with stakeholders on project questions, revisions, and progress.

  • Perform field inspections to ensure compliance with contract requirements.

  • Prepare special engineering studies and reports.
