Survey Project Manager - Full-time

Location: Asheville, NC

Required Qualifications:

  • Professional land surveyor license Required (preferable in NC & TN)

  • Degree in surveying, civil engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum of eight years of experience in surveying and engineering projects

  • Proficient in using surveying instruments, software, and methods.

  • Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and the ability to obtain security clearance.

  • Must have the physical ability to work outdoors in all weather for extended periods of time and be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to travel and work on projects throughout North Carolina and the surrounding states

  • Strong technical, documentation, and organizational skills

  • Ability to identify potential conflicts and issues.

  • Understanding of how underground utility systems work and the ability to obtain below-grade measurements without confined space entry.

  • Thorough knowledge and experience operating surveying equipment

  • Experience in the use of surveying software: AutoCAD Civil3D, TBC, Bentley MicroStation

  • Knowledge of survey data collection principles, practices, methods, and procedures

  • Proficient in reading engineering, architectural, and structural drawings

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Job Description

  • Coordinate and assist with the supervision of survey department activities.

  • Communicate with clients, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to establish project requirements, specifications, and expectations.

  • Assist with survey proposals, contracts, budgets, and schedules.

  • Perform research and calculations to prepare jobs for field surveying activities.

  • Perform survey adjustments and analysis of field data gathered by survey crews.

  • Perform complex surveying tasks such as boundary determination and surface modeling.

  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of survey data, calculations, and reports.

  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff.

  • Review and certify survey drawings and reports.

  • Manage and maintain survey equipment, software, and records.

  • Be a morale booster.

  • Serves on Committees and Teams as requested by management.

  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
