  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with K-9 endorsement

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Job Description

  • Creating a flexible program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth

  • Establishing effective rapport with students

  • Motivating students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further participation in the total school program

  • Establishing good relationships with parents and with other staff members

  • Providing learning experiences in language arts, social studies, pre-reading, and arithmetic science to students using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities

  • Instructing students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district

  • Developing and using instructional materials suitable for verbal or visual instruction of students with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities

  • Providing individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and help the students make a satisfactory transition to school

  • Establishing and maintaining standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve effective participation in all activities without interfering with the naturally informal atmosphere of a kindergarten

  • Evaluating students’ academic and social growth, keeping appropriate records

  • Communicating with parents through a variety of means

  • Holding parent conferences to discuss the individual student’s progress and interpret the school program

  • Identifying pupil needs and cooperating with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems

  • Creating an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers

  • Maintaining professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities

  • Selecting and requisitioning books and instructional aids; maintaining required inventory records

  • Ensuring a comfortable room environment through control of heating, lighting, and ventilation to the extent possible

  • Supervising students in and out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day

  • Participating in curriculum and other developmental programs as required

  • Participating in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities
